Tabletop
Because tabletop design is so fun and fancy, I want to share with you some tables I have done for Christmas banquets or for the non-profit organization to which I belong. Most often, I have the help of a friend who is a great idea person and wonderfully organized and talented designer.

A Tribute to Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. SAFD 2011 Tabletop Gala annual fundraising dinner.

Notice the details... World of Dolls antique Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers. Over 100 roses were used to adorn the planter "stair steps" down which Ginger came to meet Fred.

SAFD 2013 Tabletop Gala - Pearl of the South. The inspiration for my table was the colors of Morocco. Five small arrangements in glittered or mirrored containers encircled the base. Belly dance coin belts were sewn into the handmade chair covers.

See how the flowers spill out from the lanterns? Three orbs of vibrant roses, orchids, carnations were fastened to copper tubing that ran in a curve from the lantern on the right to the stand's base.

SAFD 2013 - Diana and I created this design using an upside down lampshade. Pave roses sit in a black frame, above which a 24" square glass topper rests on small clear vases. Sweetheart rose orbs and glass globes with candlelight raw your eyes up the structure. The yellow rose is SAFD's signature.

A closeup of the setting. I created the plates using dollar store plates. Yellow botanical roses printed on watermark slide decals were added to the plates to resemble hand-painted antique china. A mix of old and new, a contemporary floral design with vintage styled plates.

The SAFD 2014 table was the theme "Out of Africa" and it featured tribal elements, a profusion of vivid tropical flowers mixed with roses. Symbolic of the straw roof of huts, a grass Tiki roof was flattened and spread on top of the leopard print tablecloth. The inspiration for the table came to me with the purchase of the hand-blown goblets, which I likened to an animal print. I was pleasantly surprised to find these beautiful goblets at a dollar store. I love the mix of patterns and textures. Animal print pashminas served as chair wraps, and were given as guests to the women seated at the table.

My second table was the SAFD feature table, done in the style of Constance Spry with an English garden appeal.
